Introduction to basketball for players currently in 1st grade. The focus will be on the fundamentals of dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding and the rules of the game. Baskets will be at 8 feet. There will be 6 total sessions that will consist of skills stations and informal team play. Individual teams will not be formed.

12-week fundamental skill development program aligned with USA Basketball Developmental guidelines, promoting sportsmanship, learning, and fun. Informal game play (2v2, 3v3, 4v4). Baskets will be set at 9' using a 27.5 size basketball. All 2nd and 3rd grade players are provided a reversible jersey for the season, which will be the property of the Association.  

As part of the Shakopee Boys Basketball Association’s recreation program, each player receives a FREE ticket to a designated Minnesota Timberwolves game. Parents or guardians can also join in the fun by purchasing companion tickets for a resonable price.

This special event, in coordination with the Timberwolves, has been a highlight of our program for the past two seasons. It’s a great way for our players and families to enjoy an exciting NBA experience together. This opportunity is included as a benefit of participating in our recreation program.
